Karibuni First Years 2019
By Onyango Philip
As a traditoion, st Thomas Aquinas chaplaincy inaugrates first years in the Young Catholic Students Association with pomp and colour! This year being no exception, on 10th wednessday 2019, was every first years’ dream into union with the Tuk catholic family. This brief, but extreme event kicked off at 4pm by the Holy mass officiated by Fr Ndikaru wa Teresia.
The homily, more of an orientation addressed essential aspects of life at the TUK and in the YCS. First academic, second religion and self. There was laghter, love ad fun all this time as the fatherly address dressed with both intellect and simplicity, reason and wisdom into the most cotemporain of issues cut the air. I could quite phrase all these as the joy of the gospel. This rare gift manned by Fr chaplain of clothing reality with fun carried the day, the first years amusement.
After mass followed a cake cuttting session. This was courtessy of the first year’s mass committee. The session was led by Risper Macharia and selected first years together with fr. As an accompaniment came the obvious cake chorals. A perfect family picture as always was painted here, with George Njeri struggling from every angle to achieve the bet shot, while the rest of us led by the squad chair teaching the new members how to scavenge the pie. What a sight to behold!
The office was duly introduced and gave appropriate speeches where deemed necessary. This team I must note has materialized many events for the first-year team and the old members as well as ensuring there orientation into the chaplaincy and their stay in the neighboring villages.
Yes, thank you GOD!
To the new members in the family life in the church is a pretty amazing and fun. You just need to tame the spirit, keep consistent and in the words of St John Paul 11, strive for holiness while having the fun.
For the shrewd step, vast expectations and trust, ties and bonds and above all the love of God that led you to this family.
